Chlorhexidine contained in the drug demonstrates bactericidal activity against gram (+) and gram (-) of microorganisms (Str. mutans, E.coli, Veillonella species , Selenomonas, anaerobic bacteria, Proteus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella) and has a fungistatic action on Candida fungus and certain moulds. Its action is aimed at blocking amino groups of proteins that make up the cell membranes. The drug penetrates the intracellular membrane of microbial agent and entering the membrane function by depositing on the cytoplasm damages oxygen consumption and causes ATP deficiency and leads to destruction of the microbial agent. Ascorbic acid tends to reduce swelling in mucous membranes, increases the local immunity, participates in tissue regeneration, and collagen synthesis.
