Gel Base
The gel base has a local anesthetic, warming and anti-inflammatory effect. Inhibits inflammatory mediators. Nonselectively blocks cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) and exerts an inhibitory effect on the synthesis of prostaglandins, prostacyclin and thromboxane. Its analgesic effect is mostly demonstrated in inflammatory pain: the drug relieves the pain syndrome in patients with pain at rest and in motion; it reduces morning joint stiffness and joint swelling; increases the range of motion. In addition to its anti-inflammatory effect, the gel base reduces platelet aggregation in the inflammation area, as well as decreases leukocyte migration and lysosomal enzymes release in the inflammation area.
Pharmacokinetics
When appling Vovenac gel to the skin, it rapidly penetrates into the deeper tissues (subcutaneous tissues, muscles, joints, and synovial fluid) and reaches therapeutic concentrations there. the therapeutic effect in the application area is achieved by direct spreading through the skin into the target tissues. Observed in blood plasma in small amounts. For recommended method of application the synovial fluid concentration is approximately 2 mcg/ml.
